You can connect your Wise Business account to Fortnox to automatically sync your transaction data. This saves you time on manual data entry and helps keep your multi-currency bookkeeping up to date.
You need to create a separate bank account in Fortnox for each currency you choose to connect, allocated within the Swedish BAS bank account range (1920–1999).
You must have your Wise currencies opened and connected to Fortnox for your statements to sync automatically.
We will sync your transactions as 'Vouchers' (Verifikationer). To find them go to Menu -> Accounting -> Vouchers
The connection is securely facilitated by our partner Chift, which acts as an intermediary to ensure reliable, automated data transfer.
Which countries is the Fortnox integration available in?
Fortnox is the leading cloud-based accounting software in Sweden and one of the largest in the Nordics. The integration is aimed at businesses based in Sweden that use Fortnox, where the company base currency is SEK.
What do I need in Fortnox to use the integration?
You'll need two Fortnox licenses:
| License | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Accounting (Bokföring) | Included in every Fortnox package. |
| Integration (~17 EUR/month) | Included for free in Mellan, Stor, Mini+, Mellan+, and Stor+. On the Mini and Liten packages it's a paid add-on (~17 EUR/month). |
There's no strict minimum package required — even the Mini package can add the Integration license as a standalone add-on. If you're on Mellan or above, the Integration license is already bundled in at no extra cost. For the latest pricing, see the Fortnox pricelist.
How do I connect my Wise account with Fortnox?
You can also invite your bookkeeper or accountant to your business account as a team member. You control exactly what they can see and do — to connect to accounting software, you need to grant them the Manage software integrations and tools permission. Learn how to add team members here.
Follow these steps on the Wise website to set up your connection:
Log in to your Wise Business account on the web.
Select your business name in the top corner.
Go to Accounting integrations.
Select Fortnox and click Connect.
Authorize the connection — you'll be redirected to Fortnox to log in and grant permissions. You must grant all requested permissions for the connection to work properly.
Choose which currencies to connect and select the account you previously created for that currency in Fortnox.
Confirm your setup.
What happens after I connect?
Once connected, transactions from your selected currencies will automatically sync with Fortnox and appear as entries. Note that in Fortnox, vouchers are posted immediately — entries are always posted once synced.
What if I open a new currency account later?
If you activate a new currency in your Wise account and would like to sync its transactions to Fortnox, go to your connection settings, select the Wise currency, and map it to (or create) a new bank account.
How are foreign currencies handled?
Fortnox fully supports foreign-currency (non-SEK) transactions, but always books them into the company's base currency, SEK, using an exchange rate:
Exchange rates are provided by Wise.
Exchange-rate differences are handled automatically.
Is the connection secure?
Yes. The connection is powered by our partner Chift, which uses encryption for data in transit. Chift's API is ISO 27001 certified and fully GDPR compliant.
