Note, the name for your 'main account' in Wise can vary based on your location. To find the exact terminology used in your region, please check the product directly.
When you make card payments from your main account (also called your current or everyday account), we can round up your purchase to the nearest amount and move the difference into your chosen Jar.
How do I turn on round-ups?
You can enable round-ups for one Jar at a time.
Go to your Jar and select Options
Turn on Round-ups
You can also turn on round-ups during setup when creating a new Jar.
To turn round-ups off, go to your Jar's Options and turn off Round-ups. Any money already moved stays in your Jar.
How are round-ups calculated?
The round-up happens when your purchase is approved with a confirmed amount. We round up the amount taken from your main account and move the difference into your Jar in that same currency.
Each round-up appears as a separate transaction in your Activity and statements.
How much we round up depends on the currency:
| Currency | Round-up rule | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Most supported currencies (GBP, EUR, USD, etc.) | Next whole unit | Spend 5.90 GBP and 0.10 GBP moves to your Jar |
| Hungarian forint (HUF) | Next multiple of 500 HUF | Spend 1,150 HUF and 350 HUF moves to your Jar |
| South Korean won (KRW) | Next multiple of 1,000 KRW | Spend 4,200 KRW and 800 KRW moves to your Jar |
Good to know:
Spending in another currency: We round the amount taken from your main account's currency and move the difference into your Jar in that same currency. For example, if you pay 5.90 EUR and 5.12 GBP is taken from your GBP, we round 5.12 GBP up to 6.00 GBP and move 0.88 GBP into your Jar. Round-ups do not involve an extra currency conversion, and you cannot choose a different currency for the round-up.
Exact amounts: If your purchase is already an exact round-up amount (like exactly 6.00 GBP or 1,500 HUF), nothing moves.
Unsupported currencies: Purchases funded from JPY, IDR, CLP, or VND do not trigger a round-up. This does not affect your card payment.
Which payments count towards round-ups?
Eligible payments:
Card payments from your main account with a confirmed purchase amount
Ineligible payments:
Card spending directly from Jars or groups
Transfers
Direct Debits
Cash ATM withdrawals
Wise fees
Declined purchases
Temporary card holds without a confirmed purchase amount
What happens if I don't have enough money or a purchase changes?
Insufficient balance: We skip the round-up. A skipped round-up will not cause your card payment to fail or take your balance below zero. We will not collect a skipped round-up later, even if you add money.
Refunded, cancelled, or changed purchases: The round-up stays in your Jar. We do not change it or move it back if the purchase is later refunded, cancelled, or processed for a different amount.
