Managing groups

On a business account, you can use groups to separate and organise your money, and control which team members can view, send and spend that money. Learn more about groups

You need permission to be able to open and manage groups.

Note, the name for your 'main account' in Wise can vary based on your location. To find the exact terminology used in your region, please check the product directly.

How can I open a new group?

To open a group:

  1. Go to your Home screen

  2. Select + Do more with your money — if you’ve already opened other groups and jars, you might have to scroll to the far right

  3. Select Create a separate fund to send and spend from

  4. Choose a currency, group name and icon

  5. Add money from your main account

  6. Add any team members you want to have access

Anyone with permission to open and manage groups or view all transactions and download statements will have access to this group by default.

The group’s total balance is shown in the default currency, but you can change this.

How can I edit or close an existing group?

  1. Select the group you want to edit and select the three dots icon

  2. Select Edit Group to change the group name or default currency, or select Close group to close the group.

When you close a group:

  • We’ll deactivate all cards ordered for the group. This can’t be undone, and any fees paid to order physical cards won’t be refunded.

  • We’ll move any money in the group to your main account. If the money is in a currency you don’t have in your main account, we’ll add a new currency for you.

  • Any team members who aren’t in other groups or jars will be removed from the business account. If you don’t want these team members to be removed, you need to add them to another group or jar before you close the group.

How can I add more currencies to an existing group?

You can do so by adding new currencies to your existing group:

  1. Choose the group you’d like to add a new currency to.

  2. Select Add a currency.

  3. Choose the currency you’d like to add.

If your business is registered in the UK, Australia, Canada, Israel, the Philippines or Singapore, you can also hold account details across your main account, Jars, and Business Groups.

How can I move money between groups?

Team members with permission to convert money between currencies can move money between different groups and jars they’ve been added to — including the main account, if they have access.

To move money:

  1. Select the currency within the group that you want to move money from.

  2. Select Convert or Move.

  3. Enter the amount and currency.

Keep in mind:

  • It's free to do if it’s in the same currency — for example, it’s free to move money from your GBP Main Group currency, to a GBP group currency.

  • If you move money from a currency to a group of a different currency, the usual conversion fee will apply.
